The sunroom addition had a full basement underneath but a large part of that was taken up by the masonry fireplace. Because the existing house had no basement (only a 3′ crawlspace) the owners requested that we give them additional basement space. To do this we had to excavate under the existing house for a new foundation and add structural beams to make it all work. The majority of the basement that you see actually used to be the crawl space.
The sunroom itself has lots of glass, a masonry fireplace, marble floors and extensive wainscot paneling and millwork. Above the sunroom is a small office attached to the Master Bedroom.
